Inspiration

  • We have to save the interested locations on the other apps then add the locations in google maps one by one without any smart routing considering the time budget and constraints. Now we can scale it to the plan with a friend group.

What it does

  • Get your preferences then generate a route

How we built it

  • Detour is a real-time group food‑crawl planner built on DeepSpace (Cloudflare Workers) with a React + Vite frontend; it discovers restaurants along a start→end corridor (OpenStreetMap/Overpass with Google Maps fallback), enriches them via Tavily, and runs a time-aware optimizer (src/core) to produce walking + eating itineraries tailored to up to six participants while syncing live room state. Local development uses the deepspace CLI and npm (npm run dev), secrets are managed in DeepSpace (npx deepspace secrets set), and production is deployed with npx deepspace deploy.

Challenges we ran into

  • At first, the algorithm cannot plan the routes using streets but we fixed it. Then the QR code does not allow friend groups to join.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • We are proud to leverage the frameworks from different sponsors and turn it into a final working product!

What we learned

  • How to manage time better and communicate as a team

What's next for Detour

  • On top of restaurants, we will add local events and popups with live notifications.
