Inspiration

We called it a "True Story" project as we went through and it was a learning by doing in the real life. Years ago, a familiy situation forced us to look for a caregiver and social services providors. Not having a solution right away caused us to rearrange our daily and work activities in order to "be there". Instead of calling different companies, we dived into the topic and found a perfect caregiver by ourselves. This is how www.24seniorcare.eu was born. We wanted to develop it further as a private social care service and patronage in Bugaria, but we did not invest so much time and the development activities were not so active. And as it always was a "True Story" project, the time has forced us again to face another situation and to look for a solution, like we did before... In the last few months we saw how the daily basis situation changes due to Covid-19 crisis. Of course we paid attention to our beloved elderly people in Bulgaria and we understood that this is not an easy process for them. Especialy the lockdown period is very hard forthem. They feel scared, lonely, the relatives are not allowed to visit them, they are loosing the connection to the world outside and this does not make the feel secured and comfortable. They face many fears by staying home with lack on social communication. Most of the seniors are not in big touch with the modern technologies, they are more comfortable with the phone, TV and the newspaper. And suddenly their world became kind of smaller.... The government and the state organized a hotline, but the state's capacity it not enough to cover all on time. That is why we decided to help both and to create a significant social solution using our current pool of caregivers, to add volunteers and also to find stores, restaurants, foodbanks, etc, interested to donate food or any other suitable products which could be needed by elderly people at the nearest location.

What it does

We aim to connect elderly people in a social need with our local pool of caregivers, to build up a "the nearest" pool of volunteers and to coordinate possible food donations and delivery options during the crisis. It starts when an elderly person (or their relatives, neighbors) give us a "support needed" call. According to the location and the need, we will organize and coordinate the suitable caregiver or volunteer to be there on time, ready to help.

How I built it

With passion :-) We will need an AI / API tool for the platform, a better reach out and spread the word to the audience.

Challenges I ran into

To be able to learn and understand the social need and behaviour in a bigger picture.

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

To build a stable caregiver pool was not easy, therefore we are very pround of it. We were able to solve each situation on the best possible way during this long journey.

What I learned

We learned to recognize the social care needs. In real life, step by step, in each situation. We learned how to care with heart.

What's next for Detelini

To build up further. We invite everyone to join our project and are open for cooperations with other platforms, volunteer organizations and companies. Our aim is to make the project even bigger and larger not only to cover social needs, but also to teamup for activities which will bring the elderly people a bit further in the digital world.
