Detection of COVID-19

Corona virus disease (COVID-19) is an infectious disease caused by new virus. This Disease causes respiratory illness with symptoms such as a cough, fever and in More Severe cases, difficulty breathing. Since this disease reduce the functioning of lungs. We can detect it using image processing techniques and AI. So, in future if we have to detect multiple patients, we can detect it by our system as it takes few seconds to detect that X-ray image have Covid-19 symptoms or not. Using this technique, we can save time of doctor and patients as our system give ~90-92% accuracy.

COVID-19 is an infectious disease. Most people infected with the COVID-19 virus will experience mild to moderate respiratory illness and recover without requiring special treatment. Older people, and those with underlying medical problems like cardiovascular disease, diabetes, chronic respiratory disease, and cancer are more likely to develop serious illness. The best way to prevent and slow down transmission is be well informed about the COVID-19 virus, the disease it causes and how it spreads As from our studies, patients who have covid-19 have reduce the functionality of lungs [2]. For that, we explore X-ray images as doctor frequently use X-ray and CT scans to diagnose pneumonia, lung inflammation, abscesses, and/or enlarged lymph nodes. Since COVID-19 attacks the epithelial cells that line our respiratory tract, we can use X-rays to analyze the health of a patient’s lungs. Since all the hospitals have X-ray imaging machine, it could be possible to use X-rays to test for COVID19 without the dedicates test kits.

Although there is one drawback that X-ray analysis requires a radiology expert and takes significant time. Which is precious when people are sick around the world. Therefore, developing an automated analysis system is requires to save medical professionals valuable time.we can identify the difference in those two images. So, we can create a software which can identify difference between those two images using image processing techniques and Artificial Intelligence. We can Train AI model with features of normal person’s X-ray data and COVID19 patient’s X-Ray image data.

Detection of COVID19 symptoms is not only essential but also difficult task as it is current pandemic. COVID19 affects the lungs so if we detect in few seconds it will save doctors and health workers valuable time.

The primary objective is to develop the automated system that will detect the symptoms of COVID19 using X-Ray image.The secondary objective is to identify case of COVID19 positive or negative. Our goal is to use X-ray or CT images to develop AI based approaches to predict and understand the infection. We will release these models using our open source Chester AI Radiology Assistant platform which is designed to scale to a global need by performing the computation locally.
