Our motivation for this hackathon is the cause... The possibility of bringing back the livelihood of the tour guides who predominantly live hand to mouth. In the process we also have attempted to bring back business of the local small businesses.
We envision a marketplace called SmallTalk for virtual tours which provides a personalized and close to real experience for the tourists through virtual live tours. Tour guides in the process get paid for the tours. We piggyback on the trust gained by the tour guide to sell local specialty products like honey, tea, spices etc. The e-comm of this is again enabled by the SmallTalk platform.
The solution works on a proven, robust Open source e-comm platform called Magento. Here we don't build or code - we configure. For example we just configure look and feel of the site, add products, add categories of places to visit like monuments, wildlife etc. without a single line of code.
Also for guides we use free products like Google Meets or Zoom for virtual tours and commodity smartphones mounted on tripods for wider view.
The solution is live and accessible on the link shared.
We are extremely proud of arriving at a viable yet not very complex and salable solution that is ready to be taken to end users.
We are also proud of what we could achieve in 3 flat days, when we started configuring Magento.
The solution has a viable business model as its based on non for profit model.
The next steps are to scale this solution and configure few features like guide registration etc.
We really hope this solution sees the light of realization and enables in its objective of returning livelihood and business to our brothers and sisters out there.
