Inspiration- We were inspired by the idea of creating a cute yet productive tool for those who get distracted easily and need to stay on top of their To-Do list as well as Calendar Dates!

What it does- Within Desk Sprites, the user can pick a creature (or several) to keep as a pet! This pet will sit on your task bar, with a calendar and to-do list attached. As the user checks off items on their to do list, the pets will be overjoyed at the users productivity!

How we built it- We first designed our cuddly animals in Aseprite, hand placing each pixel and frame of every animation that the sprites have. All sprites have at least three animations, idle, motion and affection. Some have more! We then downloaded our Aesprite png files into Godot, the engine we used to create the UI, the Pop-ups, as well as our cute animals’ movements!

Challenges we ran into- Some of the challenges we ran into include the User Interface aspect on Godot, as well as learning how to use the engine itself. The hardest part of the design was aligning each of the animals, their movement, as well as the pop-up calendar and to-do list with our computers.

Accomplishments that we're proud of- We are most proud of the members of our team not only coming together to create an amazing program, but also stepping out of our comfort zones to try something new! Our designer created the cutest pixel animals as well as their animations, and each of our coders tackled different challenges within Godot, such as the UI, animal movements, and pop-ups

What we learned- Something we learned while working on Desk Sprites is how to use the platforms we did such as Godot and Aseprite! While it was a big learning curve for everyone, we enjoyed this process and being able to make our ideas come to life!

What's next for “Desk Sprites”- We have a downloadable zip file available to anyone who wants to make their day productive with a touch of fun! In the future, we would look into adding a coin system and more accessories and animations, to find ways to feed the pets, dress them up and hopefully add more pets in general. We are also open to receiving feedback from users regarding other productivity features they would like to see!
