Inspiration
Our inspiration came from the retractability of a cat's claws. We used this idea to create a design that would retract around a biker's foot in order to hold it in place in slippery conditions.
What it does
Holds biker's foot in place using a pinion and rack in case of slippery pedals due to wet weather.
How we built it
Using the cat claw idea, we designed something that mimicked it to work with a bike pedal and a shoe, grabbing on to the shoe when riding a bike and detracting when the user steps off.
Challenges we ran into
Mounting the pressure plate onto the pedal was a particular challenge due to the design of the pedal. We overcame this by integrating the pinion with the claw in order to create an effective design.

We are especially proud of our innovative design that maintains the main themes of sustainability, practicality, and accessibility to users.
What we learned
We learned valuable lessons in dedication, the iteration process, and creation of an attractive product.
What's next for Designosaurus's Claws
Looking ahead we would like to go ahead with prototyping, keeping in mind the manufacturing process and the applicability of our chosen materials.
