Inspiration

Waste - People intend to buy more than their needs and produce waste and overspending. Some of the extreme cases are that the cloth still not unpack yet when throwing to the rubbish bin.

Affordability - Luxury brands or formal dresses are extremely expensive, and not many people can afford even one piece of the premium brands product.

Human desire - People always want to try different styles of dressing every day which can improve their self-confidence and work efficiency.

The limited size of the closet or wardrobe - wardrobes are always full of clothes and people find it difficult to find a suitable cloth in the hurried morning.

What it does

Designer4U The idea is called “Designer4U” which is a platform bring private designers together to one platform and everyone can rent or buy clothes from them.

E-commerce - Build up a platform such as mobile apps for users to sell or rent owned idle clothes through the internet.

Spend less, enjoy more - Bring the concept of “everyone can afford all the clothes they like” by buying or renting clothes at a low price.

No impulsive shopping or excessive shopping - Help consumers save money while enjoying the freshness of shopping.

A wide range of clothing - The platform provides a wide range of clothing displayed and classified according to brand and style including casual fashion, luxurious dresses, and formal dresses.

Eco-friendly - The new concept of “renting on buying” reduces pollution and waste and is environmentally friendly and sustainable.

How I built it

Operating Platform - The service will be run on both web and mobile App.

AR Virtual Clothes Fitting and Body Measurement - The AR technology is attached to the Mobile App and is used for Virtual Clothes Fitting and Body Measurement. It takes a scan of the body using the phone camera. It captures user measurements in seconds and converts the data into product lines. It provides users with an involvement shopping experience and encourages them to complete a rent or purchase.

Challenges I ran into

  1. The partnership with private designers - There are thousands of independent designers in Australia. It will take a lot of time and effort to invite them to join our platform

  2. The cost of AR technology license - We have estimated the price range of how an AR virtual clothing technology would cost, but we have not received an accurate quote from the real AR provider such as WearFits.

  3. The partnership with laundry services - There are more than 4,000 dry-cleaning and laundry services in Australia which is a great source. However, it would be a great effort to negotiate about the partnership with them since the cloth renters need to send the clothes or deliver in person to the laundry cooperated with that is cooperated with the designer or the company.

  4. Advertising cost - Cost for advertising is high, and efficiency cannot be guaranteed.
