DeSide iOS App

Inspiration

Earlier this week I wanted to see what were the differences between the right side of my face and the left side of my face. So I photoshopped two clones of myself, one version built from the left and one from the right. I posted it on facebook and my friends went crazy. They wanted to try it themselves, so I thought why not just make an app ?

How it works

You take a picture aligned to the center of your face and the app shows you your clones.

Challenges I ran into

This was my first iOS app ever. I started on Deside @ Midnight by myself. Originally, i was going to make it a web application (because web is my forte) and use PhoneGap to deploy it to all the phones. @ 3am I realized I could not even get phone gap started. So I decided to start from scratch and join the Apple Developer program (i paid 99$) and started with iOS tutorials

Accomplishments that I'm proud of

Finishing my first app. Making an app idea come to fruition a week later (albeit it was a coincidence SwampHacks was this week).

What I learned

Basic Objective C. The importance of having a good workflow. My mac / xcode setup proved vital.

What's next for DeSide iOS App

Add more features to make it social. Add facial recognition to add stats about the differences between the sides of your face.
