Goodbye, Earth.

Inspiration

This is the beginning drawing of my pitch bible. The inspiration comes from one of my favorite game: Titanfall2. The friendship between a Titan and a human is thrilling. In my story, a group of people formed a survey team to search for habitable areas in the future. Few years later, they lost all connection with earth. After 40 years, they graduate formed their own civilization. The humble camp turned into a castle. One day, a giant creature suddenly appeared near their camp, showing no vital sign. During the process of investigation, they discovered that the creature is from another planet far away, unable to reach its home. Resonated with its story, humans want to bring it home. Thus they start searching in the space. During exploration, one human creates a deep bond with the creature.

What it does

The drawing tells a story about human civilization on the desert planet. The main character walking on top of the hills and looking down at their city. They are abandoned by the earth, and now they control their own life after hard working.

How I built it

I start by drawing grayscale in composition I like. Then I added color using different blending mode in Photoshop.

Challenges I ran into

One challenge I ran into is the structure of the human city. It is under sci-fi background, but I still want to keep the old building style that represents new humans build their civilization from start. After finding some reference, I decided to go with the fairytale, Monument Valley style. It is supposed to look unrealistic, and full of fantasy.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

It is my first trying concept environment art, and I am glad I finish it without major issue. I am working on other concept art for pitch bible, all of them are better than the last piece.

What I learned

I learned composition, color management, and story telling from drawing. It was hard to tell a story through a still image, but I managed it eventually.

What's next for Goodbye, Earth.

I am working on the pitch bible and more and more designs are coming out. The human civilization progress as my drawing skill progress. The main character also gets new clothing!
