DermaScan

Inspiration

We wanted to help people who had skin issues have an easier time diagnosing themselves.

What it does

• Takes a picture from the user
• Uses the input photo to compare with Machine Learning data set
• Outputs picture the user sent and the conclusion of skin condition the user might have

How we built it

• We used Google's Vertex Machine learning systems and implemented it through python
• We used Figma to create the design of the website
• We used HTML and .CSS to create the website and use our style from Figma

Challenges we ran into

• We struggled to format the HTML page properly, all the proportions looked off, but after a lot of work we fixed it
• We struggled to get the Vertex AI system implemented and struggled to get it to match to the correct skin condition, but after a long time and effort we managed to pull through.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

• Implemented Google Gemini AI and Vertex ML AI
• Ananya and Sookie learned HTML and CSS

What we learned

• Learned how to utilize Google's Vertex AI and effectively implement it in Python.

What's next for DermaScan

• Expanding the Vertex AI to identify more skin diseases and identify diseases more accurately.
