Inspiration
What inspired this project?, Solving an actual problem. This isn't just about writing code or creating another model, I actually saw a problem, and i had the intention of fixing it.
On the 6th of February, 2025. I watched a movie. It depicted a lot of poor and unurbanized people who had no access to skincare, and good skin conditions, It was an unexpected problem, and the inspiration came at a very weird time, but i had to do what needed to be done.
What it does
DermaScan AI is a ML prototype, trained on the HAM10000 data set from Harvard University , on 10000 pictures of different types of skin cancer, used in predicting, and suggesting necessary remedies to that skin cancer.
DermaScan Consists of the scan feature, the AI powered home remedy feature(for people who can't necessarily afford main skin care products), the AI powered skincare remedies products(for those who can afford skin care remedies), and connections to dermatologists
How we built it
DermaScan was built using React.js for Frontend, Django for Backend, and Python, TensorFlow to be precise, and Jupyter Notebook for the Model
Challenges we ran into
We ran into a lot of challenges while building this project, one was getting accuracy for the model. The other was getting a suitable UI for the project, And the worst was deployment issues!
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I am very very proud to have a working MVP of what I believe can slowly revolutionize the healthcare division, slowly, but Surely!, DermaScan as the power to revolutionize skincare as we know it, and the chance starts here!
