Inspiration
Our motivation for this project stemmed from a desire to help people tackle skin diseases early. Recognizing how dangerous untreated conditions can be, we wanted to create a tool that provides quick and accurate skin disease detection, improving users' health and well-being.
What It Does
Derma Detect is a user-friendly tool that allows people to upload images of skin issues. Using AI, it quickly identifies potential diseases, suggests necessary supplements based on severity, and provides additional care tips to manage the condition effectively.
What We Learned
Patience was a key takeaway—while we knew our goals, executing them required persistence. On the technical side, we gained hands-on experience with new technologies, including API integration, AI implementation, and machine learning, which significantly enhanced our skills.
How We Built It
Our team of four divided tasks efficiently—frontend (React Native), backend (Python & Flask), API handling, and ML model training. Collaboration and clear role distribution helped streamline development and ensure smooth progress.
Challenges We Faced
The biggest hurdles were API integration and ML model training, which demanded significant time and troubleshooting. We also encountered frontend-backend routing issues, but overcoming these obstacles deepened our understanding of the technologies involved.
