DERIS AI - CAREER INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM

Inspiration

Many students struggle to understand whether they are job-ready or what skills they need to improve. Traditional resume feedback is either too generic or unavailable. This inspired us to build DERIS AI — a system that gives clear, actionable career guidance using AI.

What it does

DERIS AI analyzes a user's resume or profile and calculates an Employability Readiness Score (ERS). It identifies skill gaps, evaluates strengths, and provides a personalized career roadmap. The system helps users understand where they stand and what steps they need to take to become industry-ready.

How we built it

We built DERIS AI using PHP and MySQL for backend processing and data storage. The frontend is designed with a futuristic UI using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript. The system processes resume text, detects key skills, and calculates scores using a custom scoring algorithm. It also generates personalized recommendations based on user inputs.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was accurately extracting meaningful insights from unstructured resume data. Handling different file formats like PDF and DOCX was also complex. Additionally, designing a scoring system that feels realistic and useful required multiple iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We successfully built a working AI-based career analysis system from scratch. The platform provides real-time feedback, a visually engaging interface, and actionable insights. Creating a system that can guide users in their career journey is a major achievement for us.

What we learned

We learned how to process unstructured data, design user-centric systems, and build intelligent scoring mechanisms. We also improved our skills in full-stack development, problem-solving, and product thinking.

What's next for DERIS AI - CAREER INTELLIGENCE SYSTEM

We plan to expand DERIS AI with features like AI mock interviews, job matching, career simulations, and personalized learning paths. Our goal is to transform DERIS AI into a complete career intelligence platform that actively helps users grow and succeed.
