Software dependency upgrades are a common challenge for developers. Updating a package can introduce breaking changes, compatibility issues, and unexpected failures. Developers often spend hours understanding dependencies, researching changes, and figuring out how to migrate safely.

We wanted to make this process more intelligent, structured, and easier to manage.

What is DepMigrant AI?

DepMigrant AI is an Autonomous Dependency Migration Engineer designed to inspect Python repositories, prepare dependency migration plans, and report verification evidence.

Instead of treating dependency upgrades as guesswork, DepMigrant AI helps developers understand what needs to change, which files may be affected, what risks to consider, and how to approach migration.

How it works

Repository Inspection: Analyzes Python project dependency information from files such as requirements.txt, pyproject.toml, and other supported project metadata.
Migration Planning: Generates structured migration plans with potential breaking changes, affected files, and risks.
Baseline Testing: Can capture the pre-migration state when execution is explicitly enabled.
AI-Assisted Migration: Uses NVIDIA Nemotron via Nebius for intelligent code modifications.
Guarded Execution: Repository command execution is blocked by default because a copied working directory is not an operating-system sandbox.
Failure Diagnosis: Classifies command errors and proposes minimal repairs.
Controlled Repair Loop: Supports bounded repair attempts when execution is explicitly enabled.
Independent Verification: Uses test results as evidence to verify changes.
Comprehensive Reporting: Produces human-readable and machine-readable migration reports.

Technology

The project combines a Next.js frontend, a FastAPI backend, Python-based repository inspection, and AI integration through Nebius using NVIDIA Nemotron.
