Today, we created a game to help people around the world learn about disaster relief. We were inspired by the idea of creating something that would be accessible and fun to play for people of varying backgrounds.
In order to do this, we created an interactive game with several levels. Each level faces users against the aftermath of a real natural disaster. For example, our demo level focuses on the 2004 Sumatra Tsunami in Indonesia. The player is given resources and has to then decide how to allocate them while managing both time and monetary constraints. This experience allows them to learn about all the different aspects of an effective crisis management effort, and immediately shows them the effects of the choices that they make.
