Inspiration
We wanted to create something that not only looked good but also did good. Seeing how many children and adults struggle with poor dental hygiene due to lack of awareness, we decided to turn education into an adventure. Our goal was to make learning dental habits fun, interactive, and memorable through technology.
What it does
Dental Adventure is a web-based educational game designed to teach kids and adults the importance of oral hygiene. It features an AI-powered virtual dentist who chats with users, gives personalized “Smile Plans,” and explains dental care through stories, quizzes, and animated visuals.
How we built it
We designed the interface in Figma to ensure it’s kid-friendly and easy to navigate. The frontend was built using React.js and Tailwind CSS for smooth animations and responsiveness. The backend was developed with Flask (Python) to handle user interactions and AI responses, while data is stored securely in a Firebase database.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was balancing education with entertainment, ensuring the app remained scientifically accurate yet engaging for teens. We also faced integration challenges between the AI model and the front-end interface but managed to overcome them through teamwork and late-night debugging sessions.
Accomplishments that we’re proud of
We’re proud that we successfully turned a social problem into a creative learning experience. The app’s interface and interactivity received positive feedback from early testers, especially parents and teachers.
What we learned
We learned how to combine UX design, AI interaction, and educational psychology into one platform. Most importantly, we realized that technology can make learning genuinely enjoyable when designed thoughtfully.
What’s next
We plan to add voice-based interactions, rewards for consistent usage, and parental dashboards. Our vision is to collaborate with schools and dentists to make Dental Adventure accessible to every child.
