Every year, KHS participates in the FIRST Robotics Competition (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/FIRST_Robotics_Competition). Each year, a new game is released, filled with exiting challenges for mechanical, electrical and software engineers. In 2014, the game was Aerial Assist (rules and how to play can be found here: http://youtu.be/W6UYFKNGHJ8). The 2014 season was definitely the most challenging for all of us. The game was very complicated, since you had to shoot the ball high up and needed to aim! This was a challenge for a lot of teams, it was not easy to operate the robot. Not only this, but the game was so violent (awesomely violent!). Pieces would fly off every game, and robots would clash (closest to battle bots FRC has ever had!). This year was also challenging for the programming team, since we had a lot of new members and switched over from LabVIEW to Java. Not only this, but FRC only supported Java v1.3 (JME). So there were a lot of core libraries missing that's available in the SE today. Overall, it was a great year and we had a lot of fun.
