Inspiration
We came in doing this for school. Ended up meeting someone affected by dementia, Beatrice. Then decided to make our application accessible to a wider variety of people.
What it does
Question and Answer forum. We want to create an accessible space for people to collaborate and share information.
How we built it
Implementing Bootstrap for the forum architecture then putting the information into a MySQL database.
Challenges we ran into
Figuring out what will set us apart from other forums/bulletin board systems. There are so many of these systems available for free so we had to find some way to make our solution different.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We built the entire system from the ground up using some knowledge that we had from school.
What we learned
Lots of valuable coding experience gained by working with a variety of technologies that we didn't have a lot of experience in.
What's next for DementiaTalk
Modular user experience:Your user experience could be modified depending on your skills with technology.Through using this web application, we hope to provide another resource for people to develop their web skills as well as communicating with the dementia community. If it is successful, we could implement our modular user experience as an extension for other popular websites (i.e. Facebook, YouTube) which would facilitate the learning process in using the internet!
