Inspiration
I’m tired of games that look amazing but forget to be fun. With Delve I wanted to prove you can hook players with words alone, like getting lost in a good book and letting your own mind paint the pictures. Just like when we were kids!
What it does
Delve is a text-based roguelite & dungeon crawler. You face one deep fear. Right now the demo focuses on Betrayal, and to survive 25 floors. Every choice costs Coffee (keeps you awake) and adds Sleepiness (wears you down). If Coffee hits 0 or Sleepiness hits 100, the run ends. There are some other interesting mechanics for you to explore in the How To Play section!
How I built it
Bolt.new and pure motivation!
Challenges I ran into
Multiple sclerosis (MS) was the biggest hurdle. A relapse landed me in the hospital for weeks during the hackathon. Treatments left me exhausted, my hands shaky, and my focus broken. Vibe coding and writing from a hospital chair is not that cool, you know. But working on Delve also kept my spirits up. It reminded me I’m more than my illness.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
Built a playable 25-floor demo featuring the Betrayal storyline. And kept writing and coding even while hooked up to hospital equipment!
What I learned
Bad health can slow me down, but it doesn’t stop me. Small, clear goals and a project I care about helped me push through tough days.
What's next for Delve - Online
Fix the last few bugs (typos, edge-case crashes). Smooth out difficulty spikes. Add more fears, events, and endings. And of course have fun!
