Inspiration
Researching medical conditions and the difficult problems faced by patients, we were inspired to develop a medical technology. Hotel Dieu Shaver’s presentation at the Hackathon inspired us to work on implementing a mobile app to overcome communication barriers for patients with ALS.
What it does
An app to enhance Partner Assisted Scanning and strive for efficient in communication for patients with ALS.
How we built it
We used Java and XML in Android Studio to develop our app.
Challenges we ran into
Working in Android Studio for the first time was a challenge to overcome. Applying previous programming knowledge helped us in the flow of our ideas.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Creating an Android app that has the framework to enhance the lives of patients with ALS.
What we learned
Learning Android Studio and making connections with previous programming experience was a great experience. Furthermore, we learned the importance of effective communication for patients with ALS.
