Inspiration
We wanted to empower startups by providing them with the tools and resources they need to succeed. By connecting them with the DELL startup management team, we can help them grow and innovate.
What it does
Customers can interact with the chatbot for tailored answers in English, German, and French (and other languages). Based on OpenAI’s ChatGPT 4.0, it focuses on Dell's ecosystem, covering benefits, eligibility, coupons, mentorship, and DWEN. Answers are generated from provided documents as well as Dell’s Website for Startups. The backend allows updating the chatbot’s knowledge by uploading documents. For startups, it serves as an intermediary for advice, technical support, training, events, and appointment scheduling.
The chatbot provides a fast way to answer questions, proving Dell’s progressiveness and increasing its appeal to startups. For Dell, it saves resources, replacing one employee's daily hour with automation (240 hours saved annually). It also acts as a lead magnet, collecting data like company name, employee count, founding year, industry, satisfaction rating, and more, which helps Dell qualify leads.
Users provide their email for contact, and the chatbot asks questions to complete their profiles. An integration with Dell’s CRM is possible, opening doors for outreach automation. Customers can rate the conversation, with the data stored securely in the backend, accessible via email and password. The backend also offers usage statistics.
How we built it
We used various technologies including Python, FastAPI, and LangChain to build the backend. For the frontend, we used Svelte for the user interface. We also integrated OpenAI for AI functionalities and ngrok for local testing and deployment.
Challenges we ran into
We wanted to implement data streaming for real-time communication, but it wouldn't work smoothly with the other tools and integrations we had in place.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We overcame the challenges of integrating multiple tools and services. Despite the integration complexities, we managed to build a functional and scalable application.
What we learned
We learned a lot about how to integrate different technologies smoothly. We also realized the importance of thoroughly testing every component, especially when working with AI-powered features.
What's next for Dell - Hackstreet boys
We plan to further improve the voicebot’s capabilities and expand the platform to support more features. We also want to improve user feedback and make the app more intuitive for both startups and the management team.
