Blender work-in-progress: the procedural delivery drone and its ZIPPY parcel in wireframe. Every mesh is generated by Python code.
-
Chase cam through the procedural dusk city. Buildings, window lights and the street path are all generated from a seeded script.
-
0.8 seconds later: the drone brakes at the door, rings the bell and drops the box.
-
The reveal. The customer opens the box: empty. One-star review: “Box was empty.”

The pizza is still in the warehouse. DELIVERED IN 0.8 s. *contents not included.

Inspiration
Speed is a promise. Every delivery app sells "faster", but nobody checks whether anything actually arrived. I wanted a 15-second joke about speed that lands on the one thing speed can't fix.
What it does
A delivery drone rips through a dusk city, rings the doorbell and drops its box in 0.8 seconds. The customer opens it: empty. One star: "Box was empty." The end card shows the pizza still sitting in the warehouse. DELIVERED IN 0.8 s. *contents not included.
How I built it
One Blender Python (bpy) script builds and animates the entire film headless, with no hand keyframes or downloaded assets.
- City: street path from straight segments + circular fillets; seeded random buildings; node-built window-light material (no textures).
- Drone and cameras: arc-length path lookup drives the drone and four cameras (chase, side, front, high); braking, doorbell nudges and the box drop are analytic.
- Character: 2-bone IK solver poses the receiver's arms; lean, crouch, brows and mouth are frame-driven parameters.
- HUD, review stars and end card: generated text objects parented to the camera.
- Sound: 100% synthesized in numpy/scipy (music bed, rotor hum, whooshes, doorbell, wah-wah). No samples.
- Render: EEVEE, 360 frames, ffmpeg for glow/grade/encode.
Challenges I ran into
Keeping the camera, drone and path in sync at high speed; making a blocky procedural character read as a face; getting the empty-box reveal legible in one shot.
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
The whole film regenerates from a single script, and the joke lands in the last two seconds.
What I learned
Timing the reveal matters more than polish; analytic motion (formulas over keyframes) makes cuts and sound sync easy.
What's next
More characters and a longer "customer support" sequel.
AI & third-party disclosure: The script and sound code were written with Claude (Anthropic) under my direction; concept, direction and review are mine. No downloaded models, textures, HDRIs or audio samples. Only third-party asset: Inter font (SIL OFL).
