Inspiration

I made this project for my Art-Integration for Grade 12. This year we were required to make some sort of art which could help ease the learning process. The topic given was to compare the energy consumption and production between the states.

What it does

It's an interactive website, where one can see the data being compared.

How I built it

It's built using Streamlit and Plotly. I first experimented with various graphs from the plotly on Kaggle kernels. After I was satisfied with how they looked. I exported the processed data and converted it into a streamlit application and then deployed it using Heroku.

Challenges we ran into

It was hard to figure out the best way to import data. At first, I thought it would be nice to import over an API but turns out Kaggle doesn't have one yet. Then I tried to import the raw data but that resulted in increased loading time. So I decided to just export the data from the kernel and import them as Dataframes in the application. Also, this was my first attempt at creating and pushing Docker Images to the Github Package registry.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I figured out how to make Docker Images and publish them on the Github registry. I also managed to set up automatic deploys from the Heroku Dashboard.

What we learned

I learnt about creating Docker Images, Deploying to Cloud services, performance constraints and how to use various plotting libraries.

What's next for Delhi vs Sikkim ⚡️: Energy Analysis

Although this was a one time project. I'd love to work with any API's that provide such data and make the application real-time.
