DELHI SafeWalk AI is a mobile-friendly web application designed to improve personal safety for people walking alone, especially students, women, and late-night commuters. The project acts as an AI-powered safety companion that provides quick emergency support and awareness during potentially unsafe situations.
The prototype includes an AI Safety Check that simulates computer-vision monitoring of the user’s surroundings, an Emergency SOS feature with a countdown, live location sharing through Google Maps, a Fake Call option, and a Trusted Contacts section for rapid access to emergency contacts.
The project was built using HTML, CSS, and JavaScript and hosted on GitHub. One of the biggest achievements of this project is that it was developed entirely using a smartphone, without access to a laptop, proving that meaningful technology solutions can be created even with limited resources.
Our goal is to make personal safety more accessible through simple, lightweight, and AI-driven technology. In the future, SafeWalk AI can be expanded with real computer-vision detection, automatic emergency alerts, and safer route recommendations based on real-time risk analysis.
