Inspiration

DekNek3D was inspired by a simple but common problem we noticed among students and early-stage creators: great ideas often fail to take shape because of limited access to tools, guidance, and practical exposure. Many learners know theory but struggle to convert it into real-world projects, internships, or products. We wanted to build something that bridges the gap between learning and doing, especially in areas like 3D design, development, and emerging tech.

What it does

DekNek3D is a platform focused on hands-on learning, internships, hackathons, and project-based experiences. It enables students to:

Participate in hackathons individually or as a team

Work on real-world problem statements

Gain certificates and recognition

Learn by building instead of just watching tutorials

Our goal is to create opportunities that are accessible, practical, and skill-oriented.

How we built it

We built DekNek3D using a combination of:

A web platform to manage registrations and information

Online tools like Google Meet to conduct live hackathons

Simple UI/UX design to keep onboarding easy

Manual coordination and automation wherever possible

The system was designed to be lightweight, scalable, and easy to adapt as we grow.

Challenges we ran into

Managing registrations and team coordination efficiently

Ensuring smooth communication with participants during long online sessions

Designing fair and transparent evaluation within limited time

Balancing startup execution with academic responsibilities

Each challenge pushed us to improve our planning and execution.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully launching DekNek3D as a student-led initiative

Organizing and hosting our first hackathon

Receiving positive engagement and interest from students

Building something real from scratch instead of just an idea

Most importantly, we proved to ourselves that we can execute.

What we learned

Through this project, we learned:

How to plan and execute an online event end-to-end

Team coordination and time management

Basics of startup thinking and decision-making

That learning happens fastest when you build and fail forward

This experience gave us confidence to think bigger.

What's next for DekNek3D

Next, we plan to:

Expand DekNek3D into a full internship and project platform

Host more hackathons and skill-based challenges

Improve automation and user experience

Collaborate with colleges and communities

DekNek3D is just getting started — and this is only the first step. 💡🔥
