Inspiration

As avid chess players, we wanted to create a project that merged the classic game of chess with modern technology. We aimed to create a chess experience that would immerse players in the game and make it more accessible to everyone.

What it does

DEKAT Chess is a playable chess project that features an 8x8 LED grid and web components. Players can play using their voice or keyboard and compete against a human or computer opponent.

How we built it

We began by designing the interface of the game and the LED grid. We used Arduino Mega to control the LED grid and Python to create the game's logic. We integrated voice recognition technology and created a web component to allow users to play the game online.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges we faced was integrating voice recognition technology into the game. The physical hardware also came with its unique challenges. Another challenge was designing an intuitive user interface that would allow users to play the game without any prior experience and simultaneously interact with embedded and web systems.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are proud of creating a chess project that merges traditional gameplay with modern technology. We are also proud of designing a user-friendly interface and integrating voice recognition technology.

What we learned

We learned a lot about programming with Python and controlling hardware using Arduino Mega. We also gained valuable experience in designing a user interface and integrating voice recognition technology. We also learned a lot about integrating with Git.

What's next for DEKAT Chess

We plan to continue improving DEKAT Chess by integrating more advanced artificial intelligence and creating more challenging game modes. We also plan to create a mobile application to make the game more accessible to a wider audience.
