Inspiration
This idea mainly came from watching Sword Art Online: Gun Gale Arc, so the idea itself is nothing new, but the real work will be taking a small mechanic and turning it to a game.
Other similar ideas reduces bullet speed or increase sword hit box to provide an easy way to gain the feeling of deflecting with little effort. This is like pressing any piano key but the game makes it sound like you are playing music like a professional when you are not. I believe we can do better than this.
What it does
Similarly to how rhythm games like rock band or guitar hero doesn't just give you a music score and tell you to play music, we will give the player better indications to know what to do. This VR game will focus on giving players visual cues with bullet prediction lines and audio cues to enable players to deflect with satisfying precision. This turns a small cheap experience into an actual game.
How I built it
By forming a team at a hackathon and using Unity to deploy it to the Vive
Challenges I ran into
Finding space to setup and gathering the equipment we needed
Accomplishments that I'm proud of
To be part of this hackathon
What I learned
Space and equipment is pretty important to establish early on.
What's next for Deflect
Only half of Deflect was presentable during the hackathon. I intend to keep working on the project to be able to eventually publish it in stores.
Built With
- unity
- vive
