Inspiration
Human trafficking and missing person cases continue to affect thousands of people every year. Investigations often involve multiple agencies, scattered information, delayed reporting, and limited coordination. We wanted to explore how Agentic AI could help investigators spend less time searching for information and more time taking action. This inspired us to build AEGIS (Agentic Engine for Global Investigation & Safety)- an AI-powered platform that brings together data, intelligence, and automation to support faster investigations and victim rescue.
What it does
AEGIS is an AI-powered investigation platform designed to assist law enforcement, government agencies, NGOs, and citizens in combating human trafficking and missing person cases.
The platform enables officers to register and manage cases while multiple AI agents automatically gather and analyze intelligence from government datasets, social media, dark web sources, and other public information. It correlates evidence, builds criminal profiles, provides real-time insights, recommends nearby NGOs based on victim location, and presents everything through a unified dashboard for faster decision-making.
How we built it
We built AEGIS using the UiPath agentic ecosystem.
UiPath Maestro orchestrates workflows and AI agents.
UiPath Autonomous and Coded Agents perform specialized investigation tasks.
UiPath Studio Web and Orchestrator manage automation and execution.
UiPath Data Fabric stores and manages investigation data.
For intelligence gathering and AI capabilities, we integrated Data.gov.in, Firecrawl, Bright Data, NVIDIA Vision models, Hugging Face models, Supabase, Resend, and Twilio. Together, these technologies enable data collection, document processing, image analysis, notifications, and real-time intelligence.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge was designing an architecture where multiple AI agents could work together while sharing information efficiently. Integrating different external data sources, handling unstructured information, and orchestrating workflows across several technologies required careful planning. Another challenge was balancing automation with investigator control, ensuring AI assists rather than replaces human decision-making.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Designed an end-to-end agentic investigation platform using UiPath.
Built specialized AI agents for case filing, social media monitoring, government data retrieval, dark web intelligence, and criminal profiling.
Successfully integrated multiple external data sources into one unified investigation workflow.
Created a solution that demonstrates how AI can support public safety and social impact beyond traditional enterprise automation.
What we learned
This project showed us that agentic AI is most powerful when multiple specialized agents collaborate instead of relying on a single large model. We also gained hands-on experience with UiPath's agentic capabilities, workflow orchestration, and external AI integrations while learning how to design scalable, real-world investigation workflows.
What's next for DeepMindCoders
We plan to expand AEGIS with additional investigation agents, predictive trafficking risk analysis, multilingual support, facial recognition for missing persons, live CCTV event detection, and stronger integrations with government and law enforcement systems. Our long-term vision is to evolve AEGIS into a secure, scalable command center that helps authorities prevent trafficking, accelerate investigations, and protect vulnerable communities.
