Inspiration
The introduction of Google Cardboard allows for an incredibly affordable way for people to engage in Virtual Reality at home. This opens up the potential for people to live stream 3D videos to a wide audience. DeepStream lets users do just that!
What Does It Do?
Allows a user with just a built-in and external webcam slightly apart to create a 3D stream optimized for Google Cardboard, allowing for:
- 3D blogging for fans to become engrossed in their favorite streamers,
- 3D calling for virtual reality to bring you closer to friends and family,
- 3D lectures for teachers to perform engaging demonstrations,
- Potential for the most immersive forms of interaction yet!
Under the Hood
We created and designed the web app using HTML5/CSS/Bootstrap/JavaScript and used Microsoft Azure to stream the webcam outputs to multiple clients simultaneously on Google Cardboard.
What's next for DeepStream
Eventually, we can open up the ability to start a 3D stream to anybody who has access to an extra webcam. People would be able to sign up, subscribe to their favorite streams, and gain followers for their own streams.
