Inspiration

I was inspired by the many simple java games I have played in the past. Exploring the codes and projects of others is what drove me to make a project of my own.

What it does

Uses click interaction to display information about marine animals.

How we built it

Using Java swing

Challenges we ran into

I quickly realized Java is not the best application for making a game. Often times swing can be corrupted or the handling of objects and clicks can be inefficient and messy.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

In the very beginning I ran into a bug in my code. I was hard to resolve because I was doing the project solo. I ended up starting a conversation with the group next to me about game development as I noticed they had a similar project. From them I learned what other languages are better for game development, like C sharp

What we learned

I learned the basics of how a Hackathon works and I'm glad I did. I realized creating a group dynamic and project idea should be established before the event begins. I also learned more about game development languages.

What's next for Deep Sea Explorer

I want to expand on the simple point and click game, maybe next time incorporating a story and more complex variables like sound and user input.
