Inspiration

I have days where I wake up and immediately feel exhausted enough to just go back to sleep. Most people don't notice the connection between how they feel and the air around them. We may not be aware that air quality contributes to those feelings of low-energy and fatigue. Deep Breath lets you log how you feel each day and automatically pairs that with the real AQI for your location to allow you to analyze these connections overt time. We leverage AI to surface the patterns and provide insights.

What is Deep Breath?

A Progressive Web App that helps people understand how air quality affects their health. Through daily check-ins, the user rates their energy, mood, sleep, breathing and focus on a 1-5 scale. You can log any respiratory symptoms and optionally write a reflection.

Features

Live AQI — the app fetches the current PM2.5 air quality index for your city via OpenAQ and records it alongside your check-in AI insight — after each check-in, Gemini 2.0 Flash reads your recent history and today's AQI and writes a short, personalised observation (e.g. "Your breathing scores tend to drop on days when AQI is above 80") History — a colour-coded heatmap shows your wellness over the last 35 days; tap any day to see that entry's vitals, AQI, and the city it was recorded in (so travel shows up
naturally)

What makes it notable

  • Privacy-first — all data lives in your browser's localStorage; nothing is stored
    server-side
  • Works anywhere — just update your city in Settings; the app fetches live AQI for
    wherever you are
  • Installable PWA — add it to your home screen on mobile and use it offline for check-ins
