Inspiration
My inspiration comes from watching a movie about corrupt chemical industries and how they pollute our waterways for profit, this brought my attention to the growing issue of water pollution that many people are unaware or uneducated about.
What it does
We allow people to test their knowledge on various water quality issues, what they are, where they come from, and what is being done to mitigate it. Then it gives them points for getting a question right and explains the answer thoroughly if they get it wrong.
How we built it
I built it using a ton of javascript to request the questions and display them, get the animations right, and display the right words for the explanation of the correct answers. This was supported using a backend of django which would randomly cycle through a json file of all the questions and send it to the frontend.
Challenges we ran into
I had audio issues with my computer when creating my presentation of Deep Blue, so I apologize for the lack of audio.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
I'm proud of the user interface I made for this project as I'm more of a backend guy and am not as good at css and animations.
What's next for Deep Blue
I hope to see Deep Blue expanding into allowing people to take action with the information that they gain from it, such as a tool that lets them contact their representatives in Congress.
