Inspiration
It was narrated by the Prophet Muhammad (P.B.U.H); "Whoever follows a path in the pursuit of knowledge, Allah will make a path of knowledge easy for him." In today's rapidly evolving world, many Muslim Youth struggle to access reliable, engaging, and comprehensive resources. This is due to digital distractions, misinformation, and a lack of structure and guidance. This gap will lead to disconnection from the light of Islam. The Youth are the future of the Ummah and cannot be kept in the dark any longer. Our project, DeenConnect, will be the definite answer to the youth's struggle.
What it does
DeenConnect is an intricate, easily accessible, and understandable online platform that contains every resource a Young Muslim may need to become aware of Islam. The home page provides basic resources, such as an online PDF of the Quran and its translations, a Daily Hadith, and DeenConnect's mission. This will allow the Youth to understand the Holy Quran and the purpose of our project in an easily understandable and friendly manner. The most important facet of DeenConnect is our modules. The two modules we have built hold the Islamic resources necessary for the development and nurturing of a Young Muslim, which are presented in a user-friendly and knowledgeable way. The links and resources utilized come from credited and trustworthy sources. The first module, the Basic module, provides simple and beginner resources for the Youth in ages 3-11. These invaluable resources include Quran recitation & memorization, the five Pillars of Islam, Stories of the Prophets, Basic Hadiths, Wudu & Salah, and Islamic history. The second module, the Advanced module, provides in-depth and more complex concepts for the Youth in ages 12+. These intricate resources include Islamic teachings & Fiqh, Advanced Hadith studies, In-depth Islamic history, and Logical reasoning in Islam. Through the modules, and their synergy with the project's simple and concise home page, DeenConnect will spread the message and strengthen the Youth in a straightforward and friendly approach.
How we built it
Using the knowledge and expertise various team members held in various fields, we used Github, a developer platform, and the H.T.M.L and C.S.S languages. The resources utilized were from credible and quality resources, including Yaqeen Institute and WhyIslam.
Challenges we ran into
Although our DeenConnect is an M.V.P we are proud of, its development did not come without two main challenges. First, At the beginning of the development phase, our team had struggled to formulate a pitch that would serve our target audience; Muslim Youth in need. But through personal introspection and recollection of the struggles of our Youth, we decided to develop a product that teaches and informs in an easy and accessible manner. Second, During the coding phase of the project, our team struggled to present the web page, as well as its resources and modules, appealingly and simply. However, by eliminating unnecessary "clutter", learning more about H.T.M.L and C.S.S, and simple communication, we were able to develop a user interface that perfectly encapsulates the mission of DeenConnect. Though we had challenges, it was teamwork and collaboration that allowed us to persevere and solve them.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
Through participating in the ISCJ Hackathon 2025 and developing DeenConnect, we are proud to hone our creativity, and collaboration, and refine technical skills while addressing real-world problems within the modern Islamic climate. Above all else, we are proud to serve the Muslim population and develop a product that can aid in bringing the Youth into the light of Islam.
What we learned
Through participating in the ISCJ Hackathon 2025 and developing DeenConnect, we have learned to create novel approaches for resolving real-world issues that call for teamwork. We have also learned how to advance projects over a small time frame and provide solutions while learning to offer new methods, standards, or personal programming styles.
What's next for DeenConnect
We are hoping to incorporate the skills, methods, and knowledge utilized and gained through the development of this project in our future careers within Computer Science and Islamic studies. We also hope to revisit DeenConnect or the mission of the project itself in the near future.
