Inspiration

The inspiration behind Decrypt-Monopoly stems from our desire to merge blockchain technology with environmental activism in a fun and engaging way. We wanted to create a platform where players could support and learn about various environmental initiatives while enjoying a classic game experience.

What it does

Decrypt-Monopoly allows players to engage with different organizations' environmental initiatives by purchasing their NFTs when landing on specific board positions. This not only supports the initiatives financially but also raises awareness about environmental issues. Players receive a CO2 balance declaration, adding an educational element to the game.

How we built it

We built Decrypt-Monopoly using a combination of Solana blockchain technology and web development tools. We utilized Metaplex Sugar for NFT creation and management, integrating it with our game logic built on the Next.js framework. The project required extensive collaboration and coordination among team members, each contributing their expertise to different aspects of development.

Challenges we ran into

  1. Adapting to the Solana environment: Transitioning to Solana posed initial challenges due to its unique ecosystem and tooling. However, with mentorship and perseverance, we overcame this hurdle.
  2. Integration with Metaplex: Initially, we encountered issues with Metaplex Candy Machine, which led us to explore and eventually adopt Metaplex Sugar for our NFT-related functionalities.
  3. Development setup: Setting up the development environment with all the necessary prerequisites proved to be a time-consuming task. Effective task delegation helped us streamline this process and move forward efficiently.
