Inspiration

In Chile (where I live), during the Pandemic at least 4 elections have been held in less than 1 year, and each time abstention to vote has been increasing, both due to health restrictions, long journeys that must be made by voters to participate (especially rural areas) and little motivation with politics. To simplify it, Blockchain can reduce abstention, allowing anyone to participate in an election and vote, also ensuring a faster vote count and security of the entire process.

What it does

It allows creating voting for government elections and that all voters can participate with their vote, increasing participation and reducing abstention in face-to-face elections.

How we built it

Using Go and Vue through Starport with the Cosmos SDK.

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was understanding the structure of the app generated by Starport and how the organization of the files helped us in the project.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

Being able to build in a few steps and understand the possibilities to continue working on the project after the hackathon.

What we learned

To use CosmosSDK to create an application in a few steps and understand how it can be extended to add more options.

What's next for Decentralized Electoral Service

We will continue working and build an MVP to have a product and use it in different elections in Latin America.
