Inspiration
Domestic abuse is an important topic today for women. We wanted our website to be safe to use so we disguised it as a jewelry store so if people glanced over it quickly or looked in history, they wouldn't be suspicious of the victim.
What it does
Our website has "items" that are links to pages with resources, hotlines, and tips. We also have one page linked to a google form where survivors can submit their experience and advice/indicators (if they are comfortable). Then the results from this google form are updated in the chart under the advice page.
How We built it
We used Repl.it to have a collaborative place to create the website using HTML and CSS.
Challenges We ran into
One challenge we ran into was trying to display the data from Google Sheets on our website. We eventually just used an iframe to link the table to our website.
Accomplishments that We're proud of
We think that this was a creative idea for creating this website to keep it safe for victims to look for help.
What We learned
We learned how to use HTML and CSS. We also learned how to embed a table from Google Sheets and how to create cards similar to those on a shopping website.
What's next for Dear Accessories: Domestic Abuse Info Website
We will add more design elements and add more buttons to pages with resources. We will also try to get the embedded table to look nicer. We want to research more to provide more useful information for victims.
