Inspiration

I was inspired to begin working on this project after attending a Response to Intervention convention back in May of 2021. I wanted to create an easy-to-use platform that would assist educators in quickly identifying students that are deficient in certain content areas, so that they may respond more efficiently.

What it does

Dean's List gives educators the tools they need in a sort of "toolbox," so that they are able to easily access student information and respond accordingly.

How we built it

The website was built mainly using PHP, HTML, and CSS.

Challenges we ran into

The main challenge I had run into during this project had to do with the signin form. With this being a website that will be populated with student private information, I wanted to ensure that the login system is as secure as possible. Unfortunately, my lack of expertise in this area, made that challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

I am very proud of the overall aesthetics of the website, and the ideology that has guided its creation throughout the process.

What we learned

I learned more about PHP and Sass while creating this website, and the importance of having a secure database.

What's next for Dean's List

I would like to take the website a step further and have the toolbox built directly into the website, rather than having to pull the spreadsheets from an external site like Google Sheets.
