DealClub.

Inspiration

DealClub was inspired by the need for a transparent, fair, and efficient platform for buying and selling liquid and illiquid assets. Many existing marketplaces struggle to provide equal access to information for both buyers and sellers. The idea was born to optimize this process for both parties, supported by a virtual investment banker to streamline transactions and documentation.

What it does

DealClub facilitates the sale of various asset classes, including art, real estate, stocks, and more. Buyers and sellers can interact within a structured, secure environment. The platform creates data rooms where buyers gain access to confidential information after signing an NDA, while sellers retain full control over who is invited and how the information is managed.

How we built it

We built DealClub using FastAPI for the backend and MinIO to manage data rooms. The platform uses Auth0 for authentication and supports both public and private document-sharing areas. The system is containerized, leveraging modern DevOps practices to ensure a scalable and secure infrastructure.

Challenges we ran into

One of the biggest challenges was ensuring that both buyers and sellers have equal access to accurate and transparent information at all times. Additionally, building a secure system for managing private data rooms containing sensitive documents was technically complex. Managing access rights for different users to these data rooms also proved to be challenging.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We’re proud to have created a platform that is not only secure and transparent but also simplifies the buying and selling process for assets. The integration of a virtual investment banker to guide both buyers and sellers through the transaction process is a key achievement we are particularly proud of.

What we learned

Throughout the development of DealClub, we learned a lot about the complexities of M&A transactions and the importance of transparency in such processes. We also gained deeper insights into building scalable, containerized systems and handling sensitive data access management effectively.

What's next for DealClub

In the next phase, we plan to add more asset categories and expand the platform to international markets. We also aim to further enhance the virtual investment banker with additional AI-driven features to make the transaction process even more efficient. A mobile app is also in development to offer users greater flexibility.
