Inspiration
We were inspired by old platforms like Vine, Clubhouse, and Quora Spaces that people loved but disappeared. We wanted to bring them back using Web3 and give creators real ownership and rewards.
What it does
DeadTrendTracker is a short-form video app where users upload videos, like, share, and comment in real time. Creators earn tokens, mint NFTs, and fully own their content.
How we built it
We used React and Tailwind for the frontend, Node.js and Express for the backend, and Firebase for data. Videos are stored locally and on IPFS using Pinata. We built smart contracts in Solidity and deployed them on Polygon.
Challenges we ran into
We had issues with connecting MetaMask, handling IPFS uploads, and managing real-time updates. Combining blockchain features with a traditional backend was also a challenge.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We finished a working MVP, deployed smart contracts, added MetaMask login, enabled NFT minting, and built live interactions with likes and comments.
What we learned
We learned how to use Web3 in real apps, deploy smart contracts, store files on IPFS, and connect blockchain with a video platform.
What’s next for DeadTrendTracker
We want to add mobile support, better video streaming, more creator rewards, DAO features, and community moderation.
