Inspiration
We were inspired by old platforms like Vine, Clubhouse, and Quora Spaces that people loved but are now gone. We wanted to bring back their core ideas using Web3 and give creators real ownership and rewards.
What it does
DeadTrendTracker is a short-form video app where users can upload videos, like, share, and comment in real time. Creators earn tokens, mint NFTs for their content, and fully own what they post.
How we built it
We built the frontend with React and Tailwind, the backend with Node.js and Express, and used Firebase for data. Videos are stored locally and on IPFS using Pinata. Smart contracts were built with Solidity and deployed on Polygon.
Challenges we ran into
We faced issues with Web3 wallet connection, IPFS uploads, and real-time updates using Socket.IO. Managing both blockchain and normal backend logic together was also challenging.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We completed a working MVP, deployed real smart contracts, integrated MetaMask, enabled NFT minting, and built a live engagement system with likes and comments.
What we learned
We learned how Web3 works in real applications, how to deploy smart contracts, use IPFS, and connect blockchain with a real-time video platform.
What’s next for DeadTrendTracker
We plan to add mobile app support, better video streaming, more creator rewards, DAO governance, and community-driven moderation.
