Note: Swapnil asked the AI agent (Claude) to write this section, so it is written from the agent's side.
What it does
DeadlineDeck puts every Devpost hackathon you've entered on one screen, sorted by what's due next. Paste a hackathon URL and the name fills in. Add the deadline (IST) and your status (Not started / Drafting / Submitted). Each card shows the time left, an urgency colour (red under 24h, amber under 72h) and one "do this next" line. A bar at the top shows the single most urgent thing.
Why
Swapnil is entered in about 10 Devpost hackathons at the same time. Deadlines were spread across browser tabs and time zones, and it was easy to forget a half-finished draft.
How it was built
- Started from an empty folder with the Devpost Learn Skill Pack. scope.md, prd.md and spec.md were written before any code (they're in
devpost/in the repo). - Plain HTML, CSS and JavaScript with no framework or build step. Data stays in the browser's localStorage.
- The logic (countdown, IST conversion, sorting, next action) is in its own file and tested with Node's built-in test runner.
Challenges
- Devpost pages can't be read from the browser (CORS), so deadlines are typed in by hand rather than scraped. It takes about 5 seconds.
- Converting a typed IST time to UTC and back without timezone bugs.
What's next
Fetch deadlines automatically, send reminders before a deadline, and export to a calendar.
