Inspiration
As aspiring game devs, we decided to do Beenox's challenge to create a 2D zombie shooter game, and since the format of the game reminded us of a music rhythm game, we decided to implement a rhythm to the zombies spawning. The zombies genre also reminded us of the game "Death Road to Canada" in which you need to reach Canada because the zombie apocalypse happens in the United States, which inspired us to make our game happen in Canada.
What it does
Our project opens on a menu screen from which you can choose to play, read the instructions or quit. When playing, you have to control the player to go up and down to kill the zombie geese on time.
How we built it
We built our project using Unity, and all the assets are drawn by hand.
Challenges we ran into
The biggest challenge in our game was the part where we needed to sync the appearance of the zombie geese with the rhythm of the music.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
We are proud of our idea since we thought it was a pretty funny concept and we are proud of the assets and animations that we drew because even though they are simple, they are clear and convey the setting of the game well.
What we learned
We learned more about sound design, because we have never done sound design in our team.
What's next for Dead Geese in Canada
We plan on fixing some of the bugs in the game and posting it on our Itch.Io accounts so that it is accessible to people for free.
