Inspiration

Alzheimer's and memory loss patients are often overlooked and under-acknowledged in healthcare spaces. It is so easy to ignore the struggles of a community so far removed from ourselves, and we could all benefit from a little more empathy and compassion.

What it does

Our program encourages exactly this, creating and building strong relationships between employees and their residents.

How we built it

This project came together with the a lot of teamwork and inspiration.

Challenges we ran into

Of course, you cannot force empathy, nor can you quantify it; it has to be felt. In creating more opportunities to experience life from a different perspective, we hope to repair the relationships between employees and their residents.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We are so proud of our teamwork and the many contributions we have each made to this project that will hopefully lead to changes in the healthcare field.

What we learned

We learned so much about the healthcare system and the experiences of both the patients and the employees in the field.

What's next for Deaconess Employee Hack

We hope to see this hack implemented throughout nursing homes and elder care facilities.
