Inspiration

I was inspired by a personal experience where my computer, infected with malware, compromised my Metamask seed phrase stored locally, leading to the loss of my wallet's contents. This incident highlighted the risks of storing sensitive information on a single device. It sparked the idea for a secure, self-owned node for data storage, utilizing Web5.js. This approach is innovative and offers a secure alternative to traditional hardware wallets.

What it does

My web application allows users to securely store sensitive data, including passwords, notes, files, and wallet information, on a chosen node. It uses encryption to protect this data, offering a decentralized solution for data storage. De-Cloud is more than a simple app; it's a revolution in data ownership and security. It leverages the power of Web5.js to decentralize data storage, giving users full control over their digital assets and promoting a new standard in privacy and security.

How I built it

I developed this application using Next.Js and TypeScript, focusing on creating a user-friendly interface with an appealing design. The entire project, from design and development to UI/UX and branding, was crafted from scratch. This involved extensive research and understanding of new concepts and integrating SDKs, with valuable assistance from the Discord community.

Challenges I ran into

As a passionate builder, I build all the project from scratch from the design, the development, the UI/Ux, to the branding. I also had to read the documentation and understand all the concepts before begining to code. I ran into some SDK integration trouble but the community from Discord helped me to solve the issues and that was an amazing journey.

Accomplishments that I am proud of

I take pride in conceiving, developing, and branding this project independently. It's fulfilling to have created a practical application that I use personally. The project stands as a testament to my ability to transform an idea into a tangible, useful product.

What I learned

This project was a significant learning experience. I gained knowledge in various fields, including design, branding, and technical documentation. I learned to manage time effectively, organize code efficiently, and work with Next.js providers. Importantly, I mastered the Web5.js SDK, which was crucial in bringing this innovative project to life.

What's next for De-Cloud

The next phase for De-Cloud involves integrating a wallet feature. This will enable the creation of a wallet that not only interacts with blockchain technologies but also connects with the tbDEX network. This integration aims to bridge the gap between traditional finance and decentralized systems, expanding De-Cloud's functionality and reach.
