Inspiration

Every day, millions of people sign contracts they don't fully understand — apartment leases, freelance agreements, employment offers. Hiring a lawyer costs $300/hour. Most people just sign and hope for the best. We built ContractClarity because nobody should be trapped by words they didn't understand when they signed.

What it does

ContractClarity analyzes any contract in seconds and shows you exactly what you're agreeing to — in plain English. It detects risky clauses, gives each one a risk level (High, Medium, Low), calculates an overall risk score from 0–100, and tells you which party the contract favors. For every dangerous clause, it shows you what a fair version normally looks like and generates negotiation language you can actually use. Before you close the tab, it gives you a personalized "Before You Sign" checklist so nothing slips through.

How we built it

We built ContractClarity entirely using MeDo — no traditional coding. Through natural language conversations with MeDo's AI, we designed the full-stack app from scratch: the upload interface, the AI-powered clause analysis engine, the risk scoring system, the side-by-side clause comparison feature, and the results dashboard. MeDo handled everything from frontend design to backend logic to deployment in one click.

Challenges we ran into

The hardest part was getting the AI to return complete, structured analysis before displaying results — early versions showed empty fields and a stuck loading state. We also had to carefully craft the prompts so the risk scoring felt accurate and trustworthy, not arbitrary. Getting the "Standard vs What You're Signing" comparison to feel genuinely useful — not just cosmetic — took several iterations.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

We're proud that ContractClarity feels like a real product — not a hackathon demo. The risk score meter, the clause-by-clause breakdown, the negotiation language generator, and the Before You Sign checklist work together as a complete experience. We built something that we would genuinely use ourselves before signing anything.

What we learned

We learned that the most powerful thing about MeDo isn't just that it writes code — it's that it lets you think like a product designer and a founder at the same time. Every conversation pushed the product forward. We also learned that the real challenge in AI apps isn't the technology — it's the trust. Making users feel safe handing over an important document required careful design decisions at every step.

What's next for ContractClarity

We want to add jurisdiction-aware analysis so the app understands whether a clause is legal in your specific country or state. We're also planning a lawyer marketplace integration — one click to send your flagged clauses to a real attorney for a 15-minute paid review. Long term, ContractClarity should sit in your email inbox and automatically flag any contract that lands in your inbox before you even open it.
