Inspiration

As a founder, my daily workflow is messy. I juggle multiple tasks, jot down random ideas, save screenshots, and collect files — but most tools feel too heavy, complicated, or project-based for the way I work. I wanted something simple that follows my day, not my projects. That’s where the idea for DayTracker was born.

What it does

  • DayTracker helps you capture your workday as it unfolds.
  • Quickly add simple tasks
  • Drop in sticky notes, ideas, and reminders
  • Save screenshots, files, and links
  • Store everything based on the day you worked on it
  • Stay motivated without the overwhelm of complex project management tools It’s light, fast, and designed to match how founders and builders actually work.

How we built it

I kept things intentionally simple:

  • Used bolt.new for the design and logic
  • Saved to the browser's local storage
  • Optionally, the user can can connect their Google Drive and sync up the
  • Minimalist design to reduce mental friction
  • User can export or import data
  • Fully responsive for both desktop and mobile use

The goal was speed, simplicity, and removing the need for "setup."

Challenges we ran into

The biggest challenge was fighting the temptation to overbuild features. Every time I wanted to add "just one more thing," I had to remind myself: this is not a project management tool. Keeping it simple and useful was the real work.

Accomplishments that we're proud of

  • Created a tool that feels natural to use daily
  • Helped early testers stay organized without feeling overwhelmed
  • Built a system that doesn't force users into complex project structures
  • Launched something that scratched my own itch — and others resonate with it

What we learned

  • Simplicity is harder than complexity.
  • Most people don't need more features; they need fewer obstacles.
  • Builders and founders want tools that adapt to them, not the other way around.

What's next for DayTrack

  • Perfect the syncing feature
  • Deeper file/link management
  • Quick capture browser extension
  • Mobile app for on-the-go tracking
  • Light team collaboration mode (without turning into another PM tool)
  • API integrations to bring content in automatically
