Inspiration

In a world full of productivity tools, most systems focus only on tasks—not the human behind them. As a student managing academics, responsibilities, and personal growth, I often felt overwhelmed by rigid to-do lists that didn’t adapt to my mental state.

This sparked a key idea:

What if productivity tools could understand emotions and adjust accordingly?

DaySavvy was built to bridge the gap between productivity and emotional intelligence, helping users stay consistent without burning out.

What it does

DaySavvy is an AI-powered daily assistant that goes beyond traditional task managers.

It:

Plans and organizes your day intelligently Understands natural language inputs Adapts tasks based on user mood and context Provides reminders, explanations, and guidance Focuses on maintaining both productivity and mental well-being

Instead of forcing users to follow a plan, DaySavvy evolves with the user.

How we built it

DaySavvy is built as a web-based AI application designed for accessibility and scalability.

Tech Stack:

Frontend: HTML, CSS, JavaScript Backend: Python AI Layer: NLP + prompt engineering Cloud: Exploring Google Cloud & AWS for scaling

Core Logic:

𝑓 ( input

)

intent + emotion + context f(input)=intent+emotion+context

Output

𝑔 ( intent , emotion , priority ) Output=g(intent,emotion,priority)

This enables DaySavvy to generate context-aware and emotionally adaptive responses, rather than static outputs.

Challenges we ran into

Emotion Detection: Interpreting user mood accurately from text required multiple iterations and prompt tuning. Balancing UX and AI Complexity: Keeping the interface simple while integrating powerful AI logic was challenging. User Retention: While the platform has 500+ visitors and 146+ signups, improving daily engagement is an ongoing challenge. Solo Development Constraints: Building, testing, and iterating alone required strong prioritization and time management. 🏆 Accomplishments that we're proud of Built a functional AI product from scratch as a student Achieved real user traction (500+ visitors, 146+ signups) Designed a system that combines productivity + emotional intelligence Created a scalable foundation for a future AI-driven platform Positioned DaySavvy as more than a tool—a personal AI companion

What we learned

Building an AI product requires both technical and behavioral understanding User experience matters as much as AI capability Real-world products face challenges beyond coding—especially engagement and retention Iteration and feedback are critical for growth Thinking like a founder is as important as thinking like a developer

What's next for DaySavvy

Enhance emotion-aware AI capabilities Introduce voice interaction and real-time assistance Improve user retention through smarter personalization Scale infrastructure using cloud platforms Grow the user base through strategic marketing and partnerships

The long-term vision is to evolve DaySavvy into a complete AI life assistant, seamlessly integrating productivity, mental health, and intelligent automation.
