Inspiration
Daily routine is crucial to productivity, but developing and sticking with one may seem like a daunting and overwhelming task. Luckily, when keeping a long-term vision in mind and establishing a reward system, people tend to feel more motivated. We want to create a web app that allows users to create small tasks that make up a large goal and rewards users for each task they complete, which is where we created Dayly.
What it does
Dayly is a daily to-do list and rewards app all in one. It allows users to create large goals they would like to achieve (e.g. running 5 miles, developing a healthy sleep schedule) and lets them break it down into smaller goals (e.g. running 1 mile daily, sleeping at 10:00 p.m.) to help keep themselves on track. Having a large goal and rewards to work towards motivates users and prevents burnout.
How we built it
We built Dayly using HTML, CSS, and Javascript. There are pages where users can log in or create an account, a homepage where they can view their progress and redeem their rewards, a goals page where they can edit their long and short-term goals, as well as a rewards page where users can customize their rewards. HTML and CSS were used to create and style all of the project's elements, whereas Javascript was used to add functionality for the login/signup, progress bar, goals page, and rewards page.
Challenges we ran into
Due to time constraints, we weren't able to finish all the functionalities in our web app. The formatting wasn't working well for some of the pages.
Accomplishments that we're proud of
As we are mostly beginners, we had to adjust to the time-constraint of hackathons and ideate and develop a project together.
What we learned
How to efficiently develop a worthwhile project, time management
What's next for Dayly
Developing a premium plan with additional features such as more goals and rewards available.
