What it does

DayFlow is a conversational AI life coordinator designed to help people turn scattered tasks, deadlines, and daily commitments into a clear, manageable plan.

We often know what we need to do, but deciding what to do first, fitting tasks into our available time, and adjusting when plans change can be just as difficult as completing the work itself. DayFlow aims to make this process simpler through a conversational interface that helps users plan, act, and stay organized. DayFlow brings task management and intelligent planning together in one experience. Users can create tasks, generate a structured study or daily plan, mark tasks as completed, and keep their task information available between sessions.

Instead of treating a schedule as something fixed, DayFlow is designed around a more practical workflow: understand the user's tasks, propose an actionable plan, let the user make decisions, and adapt when priorities or constraints change.

How we built it

We designed DayFlow as a web-based simulation of a conversational Alexa+ experience, using a modern web application architecture. The project combines a user interface for interacting with the assistant, application logic for managing tasks and plans, and persistent storage for retaining task information.

Our focus was to build a practical, demo-ready experience rather than just present an idea. We prioritized the core user journey: adding tasks, creating a plan, updating task status, and checking that changes are retained.

Challenges we ran into

One of our main challenges was narrowing an ambitious AI assistant concept into a focused product that could be demonstrated within a hackathon deadline. We learned the importance of prioritizing the core workflow, connecting the frontend and backend reliably, and verifying that application state persists rather than merely appearing to work on screen.

Working on DayFlow also helped us think more carefully about the difference between an assistant that simply recommends actions and one that helps users carry them out through transparent, user-controlled workflows.

What we learned

What's next for DayFlow

We want to make DayFlow more context-aware, improve its ability to reschedule tasks when circumstances change, and explore deeper integration with Amazon's developer ecosystem.

Our goal is simple: help people spend less time figuring out their day and more time making progress on what matters.
