What it does

DayDream pt.3 is a surreal short visual narrative that blends fantasy, comedy, and dreamlike symbolism. It transforms an unusual encounter between a man and a deer into a whimsical, cinematic micro-story, using AI-generated imagery, stylized animation, and sound design to create an atmosphere that feels both absurd and emotionally warm. The project aims to show how AI tools can merge storytelling, character animation, and music into a unified artistic experience.

How we built it

The project was created through a hybrid AI pipeline: Midjourney for generating the characters, scenes, and surreal visual atmosphere. Kling for video generation and movement continuity. ElevenLabs for producing the ambient soundscape and subtle narrative cues. Hailuo for additional processing, timing, and blending of generated clips. A manual direction layer to ensure consistency of theme, lighting, and emotional tone across every shot.

Challenges we ran into

Keeping the deer character consistent across different scenes and angles. Maintaining the balance between surreal humor and coherent narrative flow. Achieving natural interaction between a human and an AI-generated animal character. Matching lighting, texture, and color across different tools (Midjourney, Kling, Hailuo). Accomplishments that we're proud of

Successfully merging four different AI technologies into one continuous, believable story. Creating a memorable, whimsical dynamic between two characters who shouldn’t logically coexist. Achieving a cohesive visual language despite using multiple generation tools. Delivering a scene that feels emotional, cinematic, and intentionally crafted rather than random.

What we learned

Cross-tool workflows require strict visual direction and reference continuity. Anthropomorphic characters demand careful attention to expression and body language. Sound design from ElevenLabs can drastically elevate narrative clarity and mood. Fog, lighting, and color grading are key to crafting a believable dream-state. AI storytelling works best when the narrative logic is simple but emotionally resonant.

What's next for DayDream Pt3

Expanding the “DayDream” universe into multiple chapters with recurring characters. Adding smoother character motion and longer continuous shots using advanced video models. Exploring new emotional tones: melancholy, cosmic, thriller, or poetic. Incorporating voice acting or minimal dialogue to enrich the story. Preparing a small series of interconnected micro-stories with the same surreal logic.
